Executive Director's Message

The mission of our Youth on the Columbia River Experience is to create a connection between two of the most important resources in our region: the Columbia River and the future generations that will inherit it.

The WRPC Board of Directors and Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center together made the decision to harness the excitement and curiosity of the Bicentennial re-enactment of David Thompson's Columbia River Brigade and create an annual river experience for students in North Central Washington that opens their eyes to the origin, human history, navigation, safety and ongoing stewardship that we all are uniquely involved with.

This amazing program is made possible by nearly 100 volunteers from both WRPC and WVMCC.

Our region's school district administrators and enthusiastic teaching staff also find the program highly regarded by the students attending.

Generous local financial support has been provided by: Confluence Medical Center, the Icicle Fund, Community Foundation of NCW, NCW Foundation for Youth, Ballard Ambulance, CrosSport, and Washington State Parks.

Everyone has hopes this program will outlive us all.
